What is Fractora?
Commonly referred to as the “ultimate non-invasive skin renovation without surgery” by InModeMD, Fractora is a fractional skin resurfacing and subdermal tissue coagulation device that bridges the gap between fractional lasers and surgical procedures.
Is it safe?
Yes! Fractora is mild and non-invasive. Your provider has been trained extensively in the administration of Fractora, and he/she will be able to evaluate your individual skin type and thickness and determine the proper settings for your treatment. Although there may be mild discomfort during the procedure, we can assure you that the treatment is 100% safe.
How does it work?
Fractora delivers radio-frequencies to the skin through an array of pins that produce localized heat and small micro-lesion dots to the area being treated. The heat that is generated by the pins goes into the sub-dermal tissue, and promotes collagen restructuring to rejuvenate and improve the appearance of the skin. The widespread scattering of the micro-lesions created allows the skin to heal more quickly than it would if the area was ablated. Radio-frequency energy allows the skin to be heated in a controlled manner to remodel deep collagen and dramatically improve the appearance of the skin.
Who is a candidate for Fractora?
The ideal candidates for Fractora are men or women who are generally in good health who are suffering from wrinkles around their eyes and mouth, vertical or horizontal lines on their neck, sagging skin around their jawline, acne scars, vascular lesions, skin irregularities, and loose lax skin anywhere on the body. If you are looking to avoid a facelift but desire younger looking, tighter, and rejuvenated skin, Fractora is perfect for you.
Is it painful?
Fractora certainly is not the most painful skin resurfacing treatment on the market, but it can cause mild discomfort during the procedure. Depending on your pain tolerance, we offer a variety of ways to alleviate this pain. We always apply a topical numbing agent to the area prior to treatment, and for those who are more sensitive to pain, we offer oral medication or nerve blocks to ease the pain.
How long does Fractora take?
Fractora does not take long to perform at all. Patients will spend some time with numbing cream on, approximately 10-15 minutes, before the treatment. The actual treatment itself will only take about 30 minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated. To be safe, we ask patients to block one hour of their time for a Fractora treatment.
How often does Fractora need to be performed?
The results from Fractora are permanent, but multiple sessions may be required to achieve desired results. Patients need to wait about 4-6 weeks between Fractora sessions.
How long do results last?
Since Fractora stimulates the production of new collagen to remodel and rejuvenate the skin, results are often permanent. However, as patients continue to age, they may require additional treatments to combat the effects of aging on the skin.
What areas of the body can be treated with Fractora?
Fractora can be used on any part of the body where skin imperfections such as fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, loose skin, uneven skin tone, stretch marks, or spider vessels exist. The most common body parts that we treat with Fractora are the face/neck and the area above the knees, but the treatment is certainly not limited to these areas alone.
What do I need to do to prepare for Fractora treatment?
It is important to prepare your skin properly for a Fractora treatment. You want to avoid sun/wind exposure for at least 4-6 weeks prior to Fractora, including use of tanning beds. With your doctor’s permission, you should also discontinue use of any anti-inflammatory drugs or herbal supplements that can increase bleeding. If you take Accutane Gold Therapy, you need to discontinue use of this for 6 months prior to Fractora. Avoid drinking alcohol within 24 hours of the procedure, and drink plenty of water prior to and after your treatment since well hydrated skin heals more quickly.
When will I see results?
Most patients will see results as soon as the initial redness and inflammation subsides, within 2-3 days of the treatment. Since Fractora stimulates collagen regrowth, results can continue to develop for 3 to 6 months. Most patients benefit from multiple sessions which need to be scheduled 4-6 weeks apart in order to give your skin time to heal.
What is the recovery from Fractora like?
Recovery from Fractora is very short, and most patients are able to resume normal activities within 2 days. You might experience mild redness and inflammation, but this normally subsides within 24 hours. You will need to apply ointment to apply to you face 2-3 times a day after your procedure for about 3 days, or until the micro-punctures have completely healed.
What should I expect at my appointment?
The provider will discuss your areas of concern and asses your skin type and tone. You will go over expected results and possible outcomes. You will have photographs taken of the areas to be treated (for office use only unless consent is given for additional mediums) to assess your before and after results.Your provider will apply a numbing agent or administer oral medication to ease any pain or anxiety prior to the treatment. The numbing and treatment will take about 1-hour total for a single area. After the treatment, your provider will give you any after care instructions you will need to follow.
How much does Fractora cost?
The cost of Fractora varies greatly from person to person. It is largely dependent on their skin type and tone, the amount of damage to their skin, and the size of the area being treated. Please give us a call or send us an email to inquire about Fractora pricing for your problem areas. Please don't forget to ask about any promotions we are running.
