Laser Tattoo Removal in Beverly Hills

What Is Laser Tattoo Removal?

Laser tattoo removal is what it sounds like: a laser treatment that removes or lightens unwanted tattoos. Laser therapy has become the "gold standard" for getting rid of unwanted ink because it is the most effective tattoo removal treatment. If laser tattoo removal is performed by a trained specialist, it will result in little to no side effects while maximizing your results. Cloud Med Spa is proud to offer professional laser tattoo removal in Beverly Hills to help restore your skin.

Is tattoo removal safe?

Laser tattoo removal is the safest of any tattoo removal process when performed by a trained specialist. The safety comes from how the laser treatment selectively treats the pigment in the tattoo only. Minor risks include but are not limited to infection, scarring, and hypopigmentation, but these are quite uncommon.

How does the removal work?

At Cloud Med Spa, we use the Alma Q-Switch system for maximum comfort and efficacy. Laser tattoo removal systems break up the tattoo's ink particles with a high-intensity light beam. These laser beams break up ink particles into tiny fragments, later cleared up by the body's natural scavenging cells. This process of fragmenting the ink particles can require numerous sessions, depending on the depth of the ink in the skin and its density.
Unlike tattooing itself, the removal procedure is bloodless, and no incisions are made. The laser selectively targets the pigment of the tattoo without damaging the surrounding skin. Black tattoo pigment absorbs all laser wavelengths, making it the easiest color to treat. Other colors can only be treated by selected lasers based on the pigment's color.

Who is a candidate for Laser Tattoo Removal?

Anyone who has an unwanted tattoo may prove a possible candidate for laser tattoo removal. Our specialist will evaluate your tattoo based on several different measures and advise you on the expected outcome. We provide you with a rough estimate of your results based on factors such as:
  • The age of the tattoo
  • Size of the tattoo
  • Colors in the tattoo
  • How deep the tattoo pigment goes
  • Your skin tone
Laser tattoo removal works best on lighter skin tones who have tattoos in black ink only. Still, darker skin tones and colored tattoos can also be treated.

Is it painful?

Laser tattoo removal has a reputation as an uncomfortable procedure that some compare to the pain of getting a tattoo. However, we apply topical numbing cream to ease any pain. In the case of a very large tattoo, local anesthesia may be administered to ensure you stay comfortable. We also offer oral sedation for patients with a low pain tolerance or who have a larger tattoo area to treat.

How long does Laser Tattoo Removal take?

The length of your treatment depends mainly on the size of your tattoo. For example, a tiny tattoo might take 5 minutes, while a very large tattoo might take 30 minutes or more.

How often does it need to be performed?

Most people require between 3-10 sessions to see their ideal maximum results. These sessions are performed 4-8 weeks apart, depending on how many sessions you've had and your unique plan. You can begin to wait less time between sessions as your tattoo lightens. For example, you might start sessions at 8 weeks apart and then be able to wait only 2-3 weeks from one session to the next towards your final sessions.

How long do results last?

Like a tattoo itself, the results from laser tattoo removal are permanent. Once you have reached maximum results, you do not need to continue any laser tattoo removal in the future to maintain your results. Other options for tattoo removal exist, such as dermabrasion, chemical peels, microneedling, and creams to assist in the process if needed.

What body areas can be treated with Laser Tattoo Removal?

We can perform laser tattoo removal almost anywhere on the body. Ask your specialist if you are unsure if they can laser away a tattoo somewhere on your body and they will let you know based on your individual situation.

What is recovery from Laser Tattoo Removal like?

After each laser treatment, we place ice immediately on the tattoo to minimize any swelling. A topical antibiotic ointment often is used on the tattoo too, followed by a sterile dressing. The skin site should be left dry for a few days and should be cared for like sunburned skin. Other care instructions will be provided as needed, and they should be followed as directed to ensure proper healing.

How much does it cost?

The price of laser tattoo removal can vary and depends on two main factors: the size of the tattoo to be treated, and the number of sessions needed to achieve the desired outcome. The price of individual sessions decreases with the size of the package you buy. Please don’t forget to ask about any promotions we are running for tattoo removal throughout the year. If you consent to participate in our “model release” we may offer additional discounts on your treatment package!

What do I need to do to prepare for my treatment?

There is no preparation required for your laser tattoo removal appointment. You can take Tylenol before your appointment to ease the pain. It is also always recommended that your tattoo be protected from the sun for at least a few days before laser treatment.

What should I expect at my appointment?

Cloud Med Spa Beverly Hills will discuss your tattoo and desired results versus expected results. You will have photographs taken (for office use only unless consent is given for additional
mediums) so that you and your specialist can compare the visibility of your tattoo over multiple sessions to assess the effectiveness of treatments. Your provider will apply topical numbing
cream to your tattoo, which is left on your skin for 10-15 minutes before starting the laser treatment. Your treatment length will vary based on the size of your tattoo. After your procedure,
your tattooed area will be iced, antibiotic ointment will be applied, and a sterile dressing will be put on the area.

When will I see results?

For the first few days after a laser tattoo removal session, your skin will be heeling and may appear slightly red or blistered. After the initial healing period, you will be able to see a difference in the color of your tattoo, as it will appear lighter after each subsequent session.
